DISCLAIMER:
This is a real Karate class teaching basic self-defense movement including stretching, stances, punching and blocking.  Never practice these movements on anyone.  Review all stretching & exercise movements with your doctor or physical therapist before taking my class.  By viewing this video you agree to accept all responsibility for your movement and any injuries your movement might cause.  Karate is not to be played with like a toy, but an art to be studied.

I created this 30 minute modified Karate class for my own weekly training.  I'm an older retired Sensei that would like to share and help others stay in shape as we age.  I'm now over 55 with some physical limitations, & no longer attend training at a Dojo.  I'm not as flexible, strong or fast as I was in my 40's.  I'm older and wiser and still need to keep active and continue my weekly training.  And I want to encourage others with physical limitations to continue your training as we age, and to help work through injuries that occasionally happen.  My Box-KarateTM class was created to be practiced in a 9'x9' space.  For those of you that like my class and have a larger space to train, I recommend replacing my Box-KataTM with Traditional Kata movement.  This Box-KarateTM class shows slow and medium speed movement.  If you are recovering from an injury, are out of shape or have other physical limitations, I recommend doing all movements in a very slow speed with less repetitions for about two months and gradually work your way up to a slow speed and then to a mix of slow &  medium speed movements.  My movement is only a guide, and you should modify these movements to best suite your abilities and limitations.  My movement is unique to me, and your movement is unique to you.  Find your own movement and feel each move.  My goal is to help you stay flexible, have strong legs, strong back, strong core and strong memory as we age.  We only compete with ourselves as we age, always trying to improve our movement.  Keep watering your mind and body and you will grow and feel good!
