BACKGROUND / PHILOSOPHY: Sensei Levine
"sharing expands your
mind and abilities"
Although I started training late in
life, I have developed a passion for this art...The art
of Shotokan. Yes, Shotokan it is a Martial Art,
but there is more
to this traditional art form than just fighting. I
do not profess that
my way is the right way...only my way. Everyone
has their own individual way and movement, like a fingerprint. I
would like to share what I learned over the years, and have others
share what they have learned with me (youtube video links).
My Sensei taught me there is usually more than one good meaning to the same movement,
so add your own meaning and feel the movement. I
want to promote my art, and my modified training in the digital age, and give
something back to the art I treasure...Shotokan Karate.
While training under a true Master for over 12 years, I
became an assistant instructor and taught a class at my
Sensei's Dojo for 9 years. I've learned over 30 Kata's including
weapons.
I left my Dojo in 2012 and started my modified training
and finished my digital Dojo YouTube Channel Karate-Art
in 2014. I'm now a retired Sensei training myself
in my home gym and
want to share with others along the way...digitally.
I hope I can, in some small way, help to promote
Shotokan Karate Kenkojuku Style in the digital age.
If
you are interested in tournament competition Martial
Arts including Kata, point sparring or full
contact Kumite , I recommend finding a
traditional school and
try a few classes. If you don't like the first
school try again, as there are many positive
schools with great Dojo spirit out there.
Try it for a month then decide if that school is right for you.
Everyone has different abilities
and limitations, and every teacher brings their
own way to their school which
makes every school different.
Good luck with your journey!
